Up until his retirement in 2004, Michael Azefor was a World Bank (WB) Consultant in Public Health Management with over 30-year experience in international health particularly systems development and evaluation, addressing quality and good governance. Michael gained extensive experience and skills working with governments, bilateral donors, UN agencies, communities and NGOs and CBOs working as Senior Public Health Specialist at the WBG. His management positions at the bank include Country Manager in Benin and Haiti. He was won several awards for his work in health systems strengthening, project design, innovation of public essential medicines agencies with financial autonomy in West African countries.

Michael was educated at the London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene in the UK.
