Partnering with Civil Society for Citizen-Driven Country Engagement, Delivery, and Accountability in IDA- and IBRD-Financed Operations Report
The historic expansion of the mission and financing of the International Development Association (IDA) and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) (referred to collectively as the World Bank or the Bank) as part of the World Bank’s Evolution will magnify the challenges of delivering quality results and accountability in the use of funds. The Evolution calls for a deepening of partnerships with civil society in order to deliver results.
Partnering with Civil Society for Citizen-Driven Country Engagement, Delivery, and Accountability in IDA- and IBRD-Financed Operations, which is based on a comprehensive, yearlong review, makes ten recommendations on how partnerships with citizens and civil society organizations can be deepened in IDA and IBRD engagement, financing, and accountability activities at the country level. The report is supported by the Open Society Foundations and is the product of consultations held by PTF with Bank staff, Bank shareholders, and civil society in 2023.
